Ghana coach Charles ‘C.K’ Akonnor has handed a late call up to Polish-based attacking midfielder Yaw Yeboah in his Black Stars squad for the next month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, according to latest reports.
Yeboah, 24, has been impressive for Wisla Krakow in the Polish top-flight league and scored a sensational finish that generated global attention last weekend.
A number of players have dropped from the Ghana squad due to COVID-19 restrictions with Thomas Partey, Daniel Amartey, Jordan Ayew and Tariq Fosu all unlikely to travel for the game.
Hearts of Oak duo of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Richard Attah may also drop out of the squad due to the Phobians’ CAF Champions League preliminary clash with Guinean side CI Kamsar.
Yeboah, a former player of Right to Dream Academy, has gone through the mill, playing for Ghana’s youth teams from U17, U20 and U23.
He recently captained Ghana’s U23 side during the 2019 AFCON which was staged in Egypt.
