Mariano Barreto denies reports he has agreed not to return to Kotoko [Vision 1 FM]

Portuguese gaffer Mariano Barreto has sharply watered down reports claiming he has agreed in principle not to return to Ghana as head coach of Asante Kotoko.

Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM reported on Wednesday the 64-year-old had reached agreement in principle with Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Nana Yaw Amponsah on amicable grounds to end his stay as Kotoko head coach.

However the former Ghana Olympic Team coach has denied the reports and insisted he is returning to the shore of the West African nation soon to commence pre-season activities with the club.

“Who said I’m not coming to Ghana again, is it me, the managment or the board? People talk too much. I will soon return to Ghana. I’m in coaches meeting now, will talk to you later my friend,” he is quoted by Vision 1 FM.

Kotoko have reportedly advanced talks with Dr Prosper Nartey Ogum to take over as the new head coach.
