Super talented Ghanaian youth defender Solomon Owusu Bonnah came off the bench to play the last minutes of the game for Red Bull Leipzig in their 1-1 pre-season friendly draw against Ajax Amsterdam on Saturday.

Bonnah, 17, replaced Slovenian midfielder Kevin Kampl in the 85th minute as the Bundesliga side settled for a draw with the Dutch in the game which was played in Grodig, Austria.

The appearance was Bonnah’s second in the pre-season as he starred for 90 minutes in Leipzig’s loss to Montpellier last week.

He joined Leipzig from Ajax in 2019 summer and has been impressive for the German side’s youth team but his precocious performance has earned him a spot in their senior squad as he hopes to remain in the squad for the Bundesliga season.

He was born to Ghanaian parents in the Netherlands and started playing football at the tender age of 6 when he joined Zeeburgia Youth. In 2012 he secured a move to Ajax where he had been playing until he joined Leipzig in 2019.

He has been capped 8 times and scored once for the Dutch U17 team.

His parents hail from the Bono region.
