Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC have targeted signing three Division One League players to bolster their ranks as the Mauve and Yellows prepare for the upcoming 2021/22 league season.
Though the Tarkwa-based club is currently without a standing technical team following the dissolution of the technical team at the end of the season technical director Seth Ablade is reportedly supervising acquisitions and it appears he has sanctioned the transfer of the following players.
- Takyi Welbeck – Bofoakwa Tano (Zone I)
The 21-year-old hit the limelight after earning a Black Stars call up from Charles Akonnor following his impressive scoring form for Bofoakwa Tano in the Zone I of the Division One League. Welbeck, an Ashaiman boy, has the knack for scoring outstanding goals and he scored over 15 goals in the 2020/21 campaign to help Bofoakwa in their promotion chasing quest. Medeama have turned their attention to Sunyani to see if they can convince Bofoakwa to sell the price asset to them. The Mauve and Yellows are taking a cue from fellow Premier League side Dreams FC who signed striker Huzaf Ali from the Hunters last season.
2. Vitus Yamoah – Okyeman Planners (Zone III)
Arguably the best central defender in Zone III. Yamoah scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists from central defence for Okyeman Planners who finished 5th in the Greater Accra-cum-Eastern-cum-Volta region zone. The 23-year-old defender covers depth in standard situations with ease, constantly manipulating his defensive positioning in slight ways to the tune of his surroundings. His ability to do this comes from reaction speeds that make his deliberate movements look more like reflexive actions. His strong and towering body structure makes it impossible for attackers to go past him in situations. He is almost unbeatable in 1v1 situation. He is powerful jumper and his keen eye and quick executions make him an excellent disruptor of combination play in zone 14 — the dangerous central area outside of the box. Ghana Sports Online sources understand that Medeama are considering a move for the defender who they believe will bring solidity and stability to their backline.
3. Evans Osei Owusu – Tema Youth (Zone III)
Medeama have reportedly approached Tema Youth for the services of the player who is cast in the mold of Stade de Rennais midfielder Kamaldeen Sulemana. The Mauve and Yellows officially approached the Harbour Boys for the services of the Ghana U23 midfielder who scored 12 goals in 27 games in the Zone III of the Division One League last season. The 19-year-old remains one of the most talented players in Ghana at the most moment and is attracting interest from other clubs including a reported Danish and Belgian clubs. But, Medeama remain resolute in their quest to secure his services and are using the CAF Confederation Cup platform to convince him and Tema Youth to let the player join them.
