MTN FA Cup final: Stephen Banahene is the best holding midfielder in Ghana – coach Ignatius Fosu [Pure FM]

Techiman Eleven Wonders head coach Ignatius Osei Fosu claims AshantiGold midfielder Stephen Owusu Banahene is the best holding midfielder in Ghana.

The 26-year-old, who is known by her monikers as ‘World Best’, comes face to face with Hearts of Oak’s central midfield duo Benjamin Afutu and Frederick Ansah Botchway.

Banahene’s performance in his 11 Ghana Premier League games for the Miners in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season caught the sights of the former Liberty Professionals coach.

“For me Owusu Banahene is the best holding midfielder. He is a very good midfielder. The beauty is that he is very aggressive. There are two types of holding midfielders. There are disruptive and constructive holding midfielders. That is why Jose Mourinho always plays double holding midfielders,” he told Bright Kankam Boadu on Pure FM.

AshantiGold are hoping to repeat their 1-0 Ghana Premier League winning performance over Hearts of Oak when the two sides clashed at the Len Clay Stadium in the second round of the league.

Meanwhile Hearts of Oak are chasing their sixth Ghanaian double.
