Presbyterian Moderator Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante
A former Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is upset past and present Moderators of the Presbyterian Church of which he is a member of reduced their pulpits to campaign platforms for the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
He suspects the action of the current Presbyterian Moderator Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante is meant to seek favours from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
To this end, he disclosed that he feels saddened and disappointed in the church which must welcome dissenting views taking into account the fact the country is practicing democracy.
“I’m disappointed to be a member of Presbyterian because the leaders are turning the church into an NPP campaign platform. The Presbyterian Moderator believes insulting those who are criticizing President Akufo-Addo’s government will make him get favour from this government. So the Presbyterian Moderator Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante doesn’t know Afari Hospital, Kumawu Hospital, Fomena Hospital and others have been abandoned for so many years? He failed to condemn President Akufo-Addo for abandoned those projects but attacking those criticizing agenda 111,” he observed in reaction to comments by the clergyman that critics of agenda 111 are witches.
The NDC stalwart also took a swipe at the former Presbyterian Moderator, Professor Emmanuel Martey for being mute issues affecting the country this time when he promised he would not stop talking about issues bedeviling the country.
“I want to hear the old good Professor speak to the situation so that Ghanaians will know that he had genuine concerns when he attacked NDC left, right and centre …Let him bring the wise people to come and fix the problem,” he challenged.
