Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac announced his first Black Stars squad by inviting 32 players in a provisional squad.
The 67-year-old, who was announced on Friday as the new head coach for the Ghana senior national team, has handed an invitation to Swindon Town’s 25-year-old goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott.
In as much as Milovan has maintained some players from the squad that played against Ethiopia and South Africa last month, he has overlooked these 4 players.
Goalkeepers Richard Ofori and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen are both out with various degrees of injuries.
- Abdul Fatawu Mohammed – Hearts of Oak
The 29-year-old debuted for the Black Stars during Ghana’s 1-0 loss to South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg but he has lost his place. He is one of the players invited by Akonnor in a late call-up but he has now lost his place in the team.
2. Daniel Afriyie Barnieh – Hearts of Oak
The attacker never got the chance to feature in of the two games played by Akonnor though he warmed the bench during the 1-0 loss to South Africa. Milovan failed to include him in his 32-man squad.
3. Kwame Opoku – USM Alger
Opoku came off the bench in the second half to play for the Black Stars during the 1-0 to the Bafana Bafana and has constantly featured in the Black Stars squad call ups by Akonnor. But, the Serbian has decided to drop him altogether.
4. Braydon Manu – SV Darmstadt 98
One of the benchwarmers during the Black Stars’s 1-0 loss to South Africa last month. Despite not seeing even a minute of action for the team he dominated the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The attacker publicly told Ghanaians he didn’t deserve to earn the Black Stars call up handed him by Akonnor.
