Ghana’s Joseph Paul Amoah has missed out on a place in the finals of the men’s 200m at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The 24-year-old sprinter made a time of 20.27 sec and finished 4th in a race of 9 but his time was not enough to secure a spot in the final as other athletes finished with better times. Regardless, his time of 20.27sc has become the new national record.

He crossed the line behind USA’s Erriyon Knighton, Rasheed Dwyer of Jamaica, and fellow African, Divine Oduduru from Nigeria.

Amoah will still be in contention for a medal as he features for the Ghanaian team that will have a last shout-in-the-track event in the men’s 4×100 race, which will take place on August 5, 2021 at 2:30am.
